Retired RN, former photographer, full-time beach enthusiast. I traded Chicago winters for Caribbean sunsets in 2019 β now I spend my days exploring, shooting photos, and figuring out how to fly there for (almost) free.
I spent 29 years as a registered nurse and another 15 as a professional photographer β two careers that, between them, taught me how to stay calm under pressure and how to actually look at the world. In 2019, my husband Tim and I packed up our life in Chicago and moved to Akumal, Mexico, and I've been retired (happily) ever since.
These days I'm the fun, easygoing friend who's always got a trip in the works β I'm adventurous by nature, I love planning travel around Mexico and abroad, and I'm always looking for the next great photo, meal, or cocktail along the way.
Home base is Akumal, on Mexico's Riviera Maya, and I don't take a single day of it for granted. Between the beaches, the exploring, and the constant hunt for a great cocktail, life here has a pretty good rhythm to it.
I'm a little obsessed with using points and miles strategically to offset the majority of our travel costs β it's basically become a hobby of its own. I share what I learn on my YouTube channel, Jane's On Point, where I break down how to make travel rewards actually work for you.
